Religious Education
Religious Education begins in first grade and continues through eighth grade. Children usually receive the sacraments of First Reconciliation (Confession) and First Eucharist (Communion) in the second grade. Most children are confirmed in the ninth grade. There are special classes for your child if he or she has missed any years of religious education instruction. If you know of someone who has a child in the first grade or who needs to receive their sacraments, please tell them to contact the Religious Education Office for more information on our religious education program.

Congratulations to all our First Communicants. This year, we prepared 81 children for their first encounter with the Body and Blood of Christ in the Holy Eucharist. Thank you to all the CCD teachers and our ever vibrant Religious Education Coordinators.

Retreat
January 6, 2018
Our First Communicants attended our Blessing Cup Retreat. Potter, Ray Boswell demonstrated through the use of Clay and the Potter's wheel how "God is the Potter and we are the clay." Each child decorated their own chalice.
Grandma's Bread Retreat

Our First Communicants attended our "Grandma's Bread Retreat," which consisted of various fun and spiritual activities.
A movie was first shown to the kids, followed by visitations to five interactive stations, designed to impact more knowledge about the sacrament they will be receiving. They then wrote personal Communion prayers and prayer petitions, after which they engaged in an extensive discussion about baptism, and lastly, received materials to create their family banner. At the end of the retreat, dough was given to them, along with instructions on how to bake the bread.
The children also received the blessing cups which they personally decorated at our Potter's Retreat on January 6th.
